Power outage in area and place was packed with people looking for a hot breakfast. Lone waitress overwhelmed with every booth full but still managed with smiling efficiency. Food basic but tasty and well-prepared. Very positive experience ... will be back.
This place should be a landmark in Pembroke. If you come to Pembroke you have to have a meal at Bonanza Restaurant. It has been in our downtown core for many years and it has some good old-fashioned home cooking. I have been going there since I have been a kid and now I take my kids there.
Food was good as was the service. Good prices. A turn off to see an owner standing in the front window scratching scabs on his arm as we were entering though.
This is the closest thing Pembroke has to a real diner - the reviewers saying the decor is "outdated" must be confused about what Bonanza is. These "reviewers" (if you can call them that) are totally missing the ambience and nostalgia that Bonanza so successfully brings to the table. You go there for breakfast. It is called "Bonanza Breakfast". Hardly any time at all passes between when you make your order and the food arrives - the food comes suspiciously fast. Pembroke needs more of this! Less Walmart.Seriously the food comes so fast. You can turn around and see the food come out of the kitchen before the wait staff have placed your order.
